New places.. Better results.

Today was a great day on the river. We hit 2 places we had never been but, today was an adventure as much as it was a fishing trip. We went over logs under trees through extremely shallow waters through places i didn't think my boat could go. Other than getting stuck one time on a tree because of an outgoing tide ( thank josh for getting in the water ) the boat did awesome.  Josh Rayner broke the pikeless streak by catching 3 today. We got 3 pickerel 2 largemouth and 1 nice calico too.  I lost a giant pike today.. After fighting it for a few minutes and not gaining any ground the hook popped loose no warning. I didn't horse it and never lost tension. It was the strongest fish I've ever fought. Still stings a bit. I'm guessing it would have been well over 40 inches. It keeps ya coming back.  Until next time!

Pickerel Party... it was a "good friday"

Headed to lower river for the first trip in the boat this year. We fished from 12 till dark fishing from salmon river too seldons creek. Water temps were 44 main river and up to 46.5 in the shallows. We saw zero sign of pike yet again.. but today was the day of the pickerel. It was awesome...we caught 15 pickerel and 4 LMB. All but 2 of the pickerel came on jerk baits. Josh was on fire catching 3 in a row all probably 3-4 lbs. They were fat and were hammering the lures. It was kind of a bummer that none of the hits were pike but we had a lot of action and had fun out there today. Ran into Paul D and his friend Peter and we assisted with pliers with the removal of a hook right through Petes finger.. was pretty brutal to watch. He was one tough dude for sure.  Heading out again tomorrow. There has to be some pike mixed in with these darts.. until then we will keep catching what we can.

First Pike of 2013 and first report.

Hey everyone, hope you all enjoyed your winter and had fun ice fishing... ive been dying to get back onto open water! Last weekend Josh and I hit the River for 8 hours Saturday and 9 hours Sunday with one fish and no other hits. It was slow slow didn't even see another fish not a perch a bass or even any bait. River looked like a ghost town. We fished from Middletown all the way to Deep River all from shore probably 10 different spots. The water was still just a little too cold and some good spots still had ice in them which doesnt help.

None the less happy to get pike number 1 for the year. Came on a small paddle tail on a 3/8 oz jig head. Little guy but great markings and a surprisingly good fight. Could just be the rust of not fighting a fish in a few months. Really excited for this season and i just picked up the lowrance elite 5 dsi which could potentially be a game changer! Having gps and being able to find the right depths i wanna fish is gonna be great. Looking forward to getting back out this weekend. Tonights temps are not gonna help us out but we will keep trying. Hope to see you guys out on the water in 2013.
